About Laila
I was raised in a small city in Barashan Province. When I was 5, I started school. I graduated from the 12th class and then I went to the university. I studied for three years in the medical faculty, but I had to quit because of our bad situation with the fighting. My mother died several years ago from an illness and my father moved me here to Taloqan. Now I have a job with Mercy Corps as a secretary and a translator.
What has the greatest power to transform Afghan society?
The Afghan woman is very strong and she can do every kind of work in society without the burka. With the burka, we can do nothing. It is a big problem. Also, wearing the burka makes me dizzy and gives me a headache.
